Welcome to the virtual home of Ishinryu Karate Australia!We are a very active club in the Sutherland Shire, Sydney, with dôjo at three locations - Menai, Jannali and Burraneer. Our mission is to develop our students into capable karateka, all the time increasing their self esteem and awareness. Martial arts will increase your confidence and motivation. It will increase your fitness levels whilst teaching you practical physical and mental life skills. And you will have fun. Ishinryu Karate was established in the Sutherland Shire in 1982. We strive to offer our students an exceptional martial arts experience. Our 10 instructors are all accredited with the Australian Coaching Council. Our chief instructor Tony Hails 6th Dan is a Level 2 accredited instructor and National Coach 2000 - 2008 with the Australian Karate Federation (a member of the World Karate Federation). Numerous other instructors hold National refereeing status and/or State, National or International competition experience. Several are qualified teachers and have experience with teaching students with physical and mental disabilities. Many of our instructors have evolved from being parents of children that they brought to our club, having seen the benefits of karate for themselves (please click on the "instructors" tab for a more thorough presentation of each instructor). Our students are little kids of primary school age right up to adults aged 50+. Each class has kids and their parents training in separate groups side by side. We have a family atmosphere whilst also catering for the serious athlete with representation of their state and country their aim. We have a class for you. |
