Within Ishinryu Karate there are 8 kyu grades leading to black belt and beyond. Our primary school aged members have the option of taking "half" grades within 8th, 7th and 6th kyu, making each step to a new level more achievable. A very common, early concern for new members is how to tie their belt correctly!!! There are several ways of doing this and an excellent YouTube video shows our preferred method. Of course see your instructor or any senior grade for personal assistance.
We currently have active students at the following levels: White belt 8th kyu (red belt) 7th kyu (yellow belt) 6th kyu (orange belt) 5th kyu (green belt) 4th kyu (purple belt) 3rd kyu (blue belt) 2nd kyu (brown belt) 1st kyu (brown belt / black stripe) 1st dan (shodan - black belt) 2nd dan (nidan - black belt) 3rd dan (sandan - black belt) 4th dan (yondan - black belt) |
