Injury Management PDF Print E-mail

Karate is a contact sport and minor injuries may be incured. To minimise time away from the dojo prompt and correct injury management is essential. 

When in doubt, RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation).

Heat is NEVER an option for an injury within the first 48 hours. Avoid doing more HARM when you are injured:

  • avoid Heat
  • no Alcohol
  • no Rubbing
  • no Massage

 

Of course injury avoidance is best.

The Australian Dental Association has published several documents to help you choose the most appropriate mouthguard and to ensure that you manage any injury correctly.
